Templates

Templates in the sidebar is a gallery of ready-made configuration published by Datawareness: a source system with its sign-in and paging set up, or an action you would otherwise build by hand. Installing one asks for what it needs and creates ordinary objects you can edit afterwards. Templates are free, and the gallery is available on every plan.

Each card shows the name, publisher, version and summary, with Install and, when there is one, Docs. An Installed chip lists what the template installed here. A template that needs a newer Cloud Connector shows needs vX and cannot be installed until the install is upgraded. Setup → Runtime → Show beta templates adds templates published for testing, marked beta.

Install walks through:

  1. Parameters — the template's inputs (a tenant id, a company), each stored as a variable; {{ references a variable you already have.
  2. Instances — when the template can probe the source: Test sign-in lists the companies or tenants available, and you tick which become instances. A single-instance source system takes exactly one.
  3. Preview — what will be created, what already exists and is kept, and for name clashes whether to add to the existing object, keep it, replace it, or create under another name. For a new source system, tick the Export destinations its datasets should write to.

The result names what was created and kept. For a source-system template, open the new source system's Data catalogue to add datasets. Templates are installed through the same mechanism as a configuration package, so plan limits and overwrite rules are the same.

Published templates include Business Central (BI Endpoints) and SharePoint Online — files; the marketplace is read from subscription-management.datawareness.com.
