Install BI Endpoints
BI Endpoints is installed from Microsoft AppSource into a Business Central environment. After installation, three things make the endpoints usable from outside Business Central:
- Install the extension and give administrators access (this page).
- Create an app registration that tools authenticate with, and allow it in Business Central — see App registration and permissions.
- Activate the subscription on the BI Endpoints Setup page — see BI Endpoints Setup.
Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Business Central | Platform and application 26.0 or later |
| To install | Permission to install extensions in the environment |
| Dependencies | None — BI Endpoints builds only on Microsoft's base applications |
Install from Microsoft AppSource
- Navigate to Microsoft AppSource.
- Search for BI Endpoints.
- Click Free trial and sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Select the Business Central environment where you want to install the extension.
- Review and accept the permissions required by the extension.
- Wait for the installation to complete (this may take a few minutes).
Or install from within Business Central
- Open Business Central and navigate to the Extension Management page.
- Click Marketplace in the ribbon.
- Search for BI Endpoints and select the extension.
- Click Install and follow the prompts.
Give administrators access
Assign the DTW BI Endpoints Adm permission set (BI Endpoints - Admin) to the Business Central users who should manage the application:
- Open Users.
- Open the user and add the DTW BI Endpoints Adm permission set.
With it, a user can open the BI Endpoints list, the BI Endpoints Setup page and the Custom BI Endpoints page. The app registration that reads the data gets a different permission set; see Permissions.
Verify the install
- Extension Management lists BI Endpoints by Datawareness ApS as installed.
- Searching for BI Endpoints in Business Central opens the list of endpoints. See Explore the endpoints.
